The Vision
Our Focus
I [N] am an educator and software architect. Denise is a Christian psychologist. We are both seminary trained and have a passion for ministry.
We have focused our skills and the skills of the rest of the Wave Study Bible team to help you improve your personal time with God.
Everything we do is about improving your time with God.
The Problem
As we have helped people over the last 9 years, we have noticed that most Christians have difficulty with their personal time with God.
Some of the difficulty comes from unfamiliarity with the Bible and the skill of how to study it. To address that we teach a very simple step-by-step way of reading the Bible and surfacing what God is saying to you.
But a surprising amount of the difficulty comes from a mismanagement of our motivation. We usually start out clear on our desire to be closer to God. But it can quickly switch to where you feel your time with God is a duty or obligation. That switch quickly drains your creativity and usually halts the activity altogether.
We want your time with God to succeed. So we address this full spectrum of things. My educational background helps smooth the delivery of the skill related items and Denise's Christian psychology insights are invaluable for help managing our motivations.
How Does the Software Fit?
Our software has an interesting background. Ever since I graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1980 I have been working on Bible study software. I like to teach people about the Bible through my software.
Then as I matured in my software design while at America Online, I learned the great benefit of designing software to be very easy to use, even for people that do not like computers. When we joined Denise's discipleship ministry with my ministry teaching people how to study the Bible, I reworked my software for total ease of use and brought out versions for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. The version for PC/Mac is in beta.
This software teaches by example you how to benefit from comparing multiple Bible versions. Sometimes the Bible explains the Bible. See the link in the title bar called "The Bible" and watch the video to see how this is done.
The software as it stands has some nice helps for the original languages but we will soon deliver a feature that is far more effective for helping you understand how the English words come from the Greek and Hebrew words than the current techniques other editions of the Bible use.
We will also include the ability to enter and save the Four-step Bible study panels directly into the program and a number of other planned features.
We decided to include the software in this ministry after we experienced how much it can improve devotional Bible study. The convenience allows you to easily find and check verses in between activities during the day. The discreteness of looking at your cell phone draws less attention to yourself than pulling out a large hard copy Bible and studying. The fun of exploring random Bible verses adds a welcome "fun" dimension to your personal time with God.
Our Vision
So our vision is to be a place where you can come and do whatever is necessary so you end up with an effective personal time with God.
