I was raised in Southern California and developed interests in surfing, swimming, water polo, classical guitar, and radio control airplanes. When I entered college out of High School, I pursued engineering and computer science at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California where I met Denise in a church off campus.
I have 3 fields of knowledge that combine to uniquely equip me to address the needs of those who want to learn to study the Bible:
I have a Bachelors from Baptist Bible College and a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary in original language exegesis. I taught Bible and Theology for Dallas Bible College. I have taught "How to Study the Bible" courses, with Denise, to thousands of people in-person and many more over the Internet. My emphasis is on the skills of Bible study.
I have programmed large and small computer devices ranging from tiny rings to IBM mainframes. For America Online I worked in research and development, earned a patent for Video Messaging, and held the post of Chief Architect for a number of years. During that time I wrote the book JAVA Jump Start, published by Prentice Hall. I also wrote the WAVE Parallel Bible app for iPhone and other platforms.
I have a Doctor of Education specializing in Internet-based training systems and have taught for UC Irvine Extension and Dallas Bible College.
A small church, off campus at Cal Poly, had a campus outreach through which I came to Christ. God has lead Denise and I through an unusual sequence of experiences. But when we look back at them we see how He was perfectly equipping us to provide help to people as they struggle with their personal time with God. Denise and I have been married since 1972 and have 4 adult children.
My parents were born, raised, and married in Ireland. They came to America on the Queen Mary and settled in Southern California where I was born and raised. I have always had an interest in public speaking so I majored in Speech in Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California.
I have 2 fields of knowledge that equip me to help the needs of those who want to study the Bible but have trouble maintaining their motivation.
I have a Bachelors from Baptist Bible College then pursued Masters course work at Dallas Theological Seminary where I was able to take many of Noel's favorite classes including Bible study with Howard Hendricks. I have taught "How to Study the Bible" courses, with Noel, to thousands of people in-person and many more over the Internet. My emphasis is on surfacing and nurturing your desire to know God through His word.
After hands-on training raising our 4 kids, I went back to school and earned the Masters and Doctor of Psychology degrees. I started a private clinical practice in Southern California where I saw couples and adults for anxiety and depression. My specialty was the integration of Biblical principles with principles of good mental health.
I was saved while at Cal Poly through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Then God called Noel and I to prepare for full-time ministry so we went to Bible college and seminary. God has led us through a unique set of experiences that have worked together to prepare us to help people with their personal time with God.
